The secret to reducing dark circles under your eyes!

| Katie Moore

We hear from Katharina Vestin, Skin therapist and Skin care teacher at the Elisabeth School.

How do you reduce dark circles under the eyes, especially when you spend hours in front of a screen?

The skin around the eyes is very thin and the bloodvessles become more visible, that’s why dark circles around the eyes can be hard to treat but it can also be due to sleep deprivation, sun damage, reduced circulation (when sitting in front of computers for example). An eye cream or eye gel is specially adapted to the area around the eyes and hydrates, stimulates microcirculation, strengthens the skin and reduces signs of tiredness which gives a more happy and awake skin.

To summarize:

  • It is important to use sunscreen to prevent sun damage and signs of aging around the eyes
  • A moisturizing and cooling eye mask is beneficial for tired eyes
  • Adequate sleep
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Regular visit to your dermatologist for treatment (massage is good for the circulation hence eliminating dark circles)
  • A good eye cream or gel suitable for your skin type
